About the Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management)

CSU’s Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) equips graduates for a career managing an organisation’s people to deliver strategic goals.

About the course

Regardless of the size of an organisation or the extent of its resources, the organisation survives and thrives because of the capabilities and performance of its people. As a graduate, you will implement activities to maximise people’s capabilities to achieve the organisation’s goals. Activities may include staff recruitment, career planning, appraisal, developing reward and discipline structures, and the design and redesign of jobs. Career options are broad and include the following:

•  training manager
•  learning and development manager
•  Occupational Health and Safety, anager
•  employee relations manager
•  human resources management consultant
 

Your course is recognised

The Bachelor of Business (HRM) is accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).

Alternative pathway

Students who successfully complete the Taylors UniLink Diploma of Business or the Martin College Advanced Diploma of Management are able to gain credit into the Bachelor of Business degree.   

Course structure

You must successfully complete 24 subjects to graduate consisting of three core subjects, five foundation subjects, eight specialisation subjects and eight electives.  Refer to the CSU Handbook 2012 for full course and subject details.

Electives

You must choose eight electives or choose a Joint Study as an alternative. An elective is any undergraduate subject offered at the CSU Study Centre. Students can enrol in these subjects provided they meet prerequisites and enrolment restrictions. Electives are required to bring a student’s total number of subjects to 24 over thecourse of the three-year degree.   

Joint Study

A Joint Study is a prescribed set of subjects taken from a discipline other than Human Resources Management. The discipline studied will then be included on the testamur in conjunction with Bachelor of Business (e.g. Bachelor of Business (HRM/Management)).

For a Joint Study from within the Faculty of Business, students must take an established sequence or set of five subjects. Students must ensure that they take the necessary prerequisites or have the required assumed knowledge.

A student cannot claim more than one Joint Study.
