Reunions of the first group of CSU student ambassadors took place at CSU Study Centres throughout March. Under the 2019 theme ‘The Future of You’, the reunions brought together current student Ambassadors and alumni on the topic of building their personal brand. The groups took part in seminars, team building exercises and workshops as part of their ongoing development in the program.
The events included a workshop on using LinkedIn to establish a professional personal brand that will get noticed by the right recruiters and potential employers. Students and alumni were encouraged to think about what makes them an attractive prospective to a potential employer, and how to showcase their capabilities and build a unique tone of voice in their profile. There was also an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and get personalised advice from a LinkedIn expert.
A key aspect of the ambassador program is to develop students’ professional skills so they can effectively represent CSU Study Centres when talking to prospective new students in their home countries. The investment those students also gives them the tools they need to be successful in their own careers after university. By taking part in reunions, ambassadors are able to maintain their connection to the alumni network and continue their professional development.
Bobur from Uzbekistan, who is studying a Bachelor of Accounting, attended the event in Melbourne. He explained he found the focus on career skills and professional development useful, saying “The presentation was very informative and professional. It has definitely opened me up to a lot of things I had not known of.”
