CSU Study Centres celebrated its first anniversary of the commencement of classes at the Brisbane centre on Wednesday the 26th July. Over one hundred CSU students joined centre staff in celebrations to commemorate the occasion.
Jennifer Rennie-Sia, Manager - Student Services and Career Development, kicked off the celebration with a welcome speech that included a number of highlights of the past year. Special guest, Bradley Muller, Regional Director Embassy English, was welcomed and acknowledged for the partnership between Embassy English and CSU Study Centres as a pathway to undergraduate and postgraduate success for students who do not initially meet English entry requirements. David Knight, CSU Study Centre Director was also acknowledged for his contribution to the success of the Study Centres’ first year in operation.
Following the opening address, two of the centres’ very first and diligent students, Akki Patel and Ritika Salaria, shared stories of their academic and emotional journey here at CSU Study Centres.
Praise was given to both Jenni & Sharelle for sharing in their journey, with constant encouragement for new and continuing students.
Finally, Kenneth Fakumuria, one of the inaugural lecturers to teach at the centre, also spoke on behalf of the academic staff about his first years’ experience at CSU Study Centre Brisbane and shared his excitement in continuing the journey forward.
Celebrations continued with the cutting of the wonderful, 1st birthday cake, prepared by Jenni and students, and was followed by a shared lunch. There was dancing, cheering and laughter throughout as well as a great mix and mingle between staff and all cohorts.
Sharelle Simmons, Academic Director, closed the formal proceedings with a wrap up of the past year and a look at the journey forward. Jenni & Sharelle encouraged new students to embrace their university journey in Australia.
The celebration was a wonderful event and was enjoyed by all attendees as the campus continues to grow, creating more friendships and great memories.
