Student support

At Charles Sturt University Study Centres, career support is built into your studies. The Study Centres also provide additional support to get you ready for the competitive graduate job market and ensure your wellbeing.

Academic, career and welfare support

There is always someone who can help if you need support while you are studying with us. Study support ranges from workshops, one-to-one advice and team teaching.

Academic Skills Development Program

Enhance your academic writing and learning skills with our Academic Skills Development Program. Through practical workshops you will build and develop the skills needed for academic success during your time at university. Each workshop has a different focus and will assist you in your transition to university in Australia, and we recommend this to all our students.

Workshop topics include:

  • academic writing skills, including English grammar
  • information literacy
  • technology skills development (covering MS Word and PowerPoint, CSU Interact, as well as Turnitin)
  • time management
  • study methodologies (note-taking and note-making)
  • oral presentations
  • critical writing and thinking
  • exam techniques.

One-to-one appointments

The study support coordinator is available to help you improve your academic writing skills. Free one-to-one sessions are tailored to your individual learning needs, giving you extra support to help you achieve the grades you hope for.

Student welfare

Our dedicated student wellbeing counsellors are available to assist you with any personal welfare concerns you may have in private one-to-one consultations.

Team teaching

Benefit from additional English language support within your academic classes. Specialist English language teachers join your academic subject teachers, to provide you with the comprehensive language and academic support you need to excel at Charles Sturt University Study Centres.

Charuni from Sri Lanka

When students are emotionally down or going through a lot of stress, they really help us; showing us how to mitigate and get through the situations. It’s really important during exam time, when they’ll suggest how to manage everything, from eating to studying.
